WEEK 3

What are the titles that are popular with the tweens you see/work with?
The most popular titles in recent months and year would be:
* Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. It is a series of 5 books, which has captivated tweens for the past 4-5years.
* Warriors by Erin Hunt. This series is more popular with girls, but still very popular.
* Harry Potter is always a consistent favorite
*Percey Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
* Septimus Heap Series by Angie Sage
* Artimis Fowel by Eoin Colfer
* The Hunger Games Series

What are the activities, issues, etc. that are popular with tweens?
Some popular items or trends right now among tweens are:
* Silly Bands
* Glee
* Dance video games
* Marbles
There are a number of popular themes that are always important among tweens, such as;
* Sports
* Music
* Video games
* Fashion
I have noticed that a tweens background and environment affects what they like and what they think is popular. For example, the students at my low income school are really into marbles, but the other school, which is high income, is not. The low income school is just starting to read the Percey Jackson series and the other school has finished the series and is ready for Rick Riordans new series.

What titles do you see marketed in bookstores? online? have buzz?
* Diary of a wimpy kid
* Percey Jackson by Rick Riordan
* Kane Chronicles By Rick Riordan (His new Series)
* Seekers by Erin Hunter

Why do you think these items and activities are popular?
What makes these books and activities popular are a number of factors. What their peers, siblings and family matters are reading, doing, and participating in, what the media is producing and creating directed toward tweens, commercials and consumer products that are advertising too the tweens, and mostly word of mouth.
